Phase 1b of the vaccination rollout is starting this coming Monday 22 March. The Department of Health has just released the list of GP practices and other locations where COVID-19 vaccinations will be available. Members and dental staff can find a list of vaccination clinics here . We encourage members to book an appointment as soon as possible through the Government’s vaccine eligibility checker as most GPs will have limited supplies of the vaccine in the initial rollout stages. You may find that your regular GP is not participating yet and you may need to visit a practice that you don’t normally attend. The Government is aiming to progressively increase ...

The Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) has recently announced changes to legislation taking effect on 25 February 2021, that will affect any dentist who is manufacturing, importing or supplying custom-made medical devices. The main impact of these changes is that devices currently being supplied as custom-made medical devices will now need to be included in the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG). The ADA is recommending that dentists familiarise themselves with the TGA Guidelines (see below) and determine if they meet the criteria for manufacturing and importing patient-matched devices under the new definitions. The Dental Board of Australia (the Board) has announced it will commence auditing registered dental practitioners for compliance with registration standards this February. The audits will cover the registration period of 1 December 2019 through to 30 November 2020 and are undertaken to ensure “that practitioners are meeting the mandatory registration standards and provide important assurance to the community and the Boards.” Dentists who are selected for an audit will receive a checklist which outlines the supporting documentation they will require to demonstrate they meet the standard(s) being audited which may include but is not limited to: ...
